So you have only one guess as to what jeans plus leggings results in. If you did not answer “jeggings” welcome back to life, this is earth, and everyone is wearing a thing called jeggings in 2010. There is much controversy concerning the jegging epidemic that has currently taken over the world of fashion. The jegging is essentially a legging body made of fabric resembling denim, therefore giving the illusion of wearing jeans but with the comfort of a much more forgiving fabric. And this is where the argument begins.
Some feel this is an attempt to squeeze women into even smaller pants but this is just not the case. These nonbelievers falsely reason that a jegging is made out of denim and therefore awfully uncomfortable and constricting. The idea of the jegging however is to creat a much lighter weight and stretchier “denim-esque” pant to alleviate this discomfort previously brought about by too tight non-stretch skinny jeans.
In fact, this past weekend the Los Angeles Times covered said issue in a full length jegging debate entitled, Jeggings: Denim Gets a New Stretch. They most appropriately refer to the jegging as a hybrid trend that gives you “more give than skinny jeans and is dressier than leggings,” well said! This trend is a spin-off of the ever rampant skinny silhouette making this “skinny” style possible for everyone.
